No response. The little metal shoe wasn't any too snug, but it worked.I ordered the exact same item a couple of weeks ago and guess what. The little aluminum shoe is way too big to hold the flash securely. Not even close.
I ordered one of these last summer and it worked okay. If you have any doubts about cheaping out and getting this item versus paying double to get a more ruggedly made one, my advice is: go with the more expensive option. Yes, I emailed adorama. It allowed me to put my Nikon SB-600 onto my little umbrella stand.
I've been reduced to using the flat plastic table-mount thingy that came with the flash to attach it to the bracket. This one has been hit or miss for me. just what I wanted. The shoe don't fit.
But other than that, everything holds on tight and I'm happy with that. For example, you can't tilt the umbrella up or down. Thank you. These are my first swivel holders and I'm almost happy with them (all four). One thing that I did not like was that you can't adjust the umbrella you attach with in the vertical axis.
Anytime you touch the flash ( 58oEX II) it almost fell out of the hot shoe. I purchased this with a Pocket Wizard system, an umbrella & stand. I will send this back and look for something else. I played with it for an hour and realized the screw that holds in the flash does not align base of flash. The clamps are big and easy to use. The hot shoe does not work very well.
I always use my Bogen 2905 Swivel Umbrella Adapter first. I ended up replacing the cold shoes on both Swivel Holders with the Stroboframe Bracket Shoe Mount which are rather expensive @ $15 each but far more secure. I agree with the other reviewer on the cold shoe - the shoes that come with this are weak and not something you want to mount an expensive flash on. No warranty for your flash when it crashes off the tripod.A far better product is the Bogen 2905 Swivel Umbrella Adapter.I bought two fo the Adorama Universal Swivel Holders.
I think this holder might be a little 'light' for a large, heavy umbrella but for the price I'm pleased. Adorama Universal Swivel Holder #4117I have used this holder for my Nikon D800 Flash attachment and a lightweight see through umbrella. It's working fine so far.
